Hamilton is bigger than its downtown. The City of Hamilton was incorporated on January 1, 2001 as the successor to six former municipalities: Ancaster, Dundas, Flamborough, Glanbrook, Hamilton and Stoney Creek (the City of Hamilton Act, 1999, as recited in the city's parks by-law 01-219), so Ancaster, Dundas and Stoney Creek are covered below. According to TodaysTab's checks on October 31, 2026, 44 of the 139 active venues we track in Hamilton have a special with a stated day or time window, confidence of 0.7 or higher and a check within the last 45 days. The most common timed happy hour is 2 to 5 PM, used by at least 6 venues. Five venues run a late-night window: The James Public Eatery, The Keg on Upper James, Turtle Jack's and both Ye Olde Squire pubs. The lowest confirmed beer price is $4.75 for domestic bottles on Fridays at Wingporium. Search results for Hamilton happy hour are mostly restaurant directory pages such as OpenTable's list; this guide adds days, times, prices and a check date for each venue.

What's not on this list

We track The Ship (23 Augusta Street), The Grand Hamilton (69 Augusta Street), Doors Pub (56 Hess Street South) and 11:11 (150 James Street South) with no confirmed deal, so they are not listed. Handsome Dave's Neighbourhood Bar (61 Young Street) advertised half-price wings on Thursdays in a September 3 post, and we could not re-confirm it. Prime Steak + Raw Bar has a happy hour in our data, but it is in Burlington, outside the city, so we left it out.

Yes. The Judge runs $8 pints from 3 to 6 PM on Sundays (eat in only), The James Public Eatery sells $5 Social Lager until 5 PM, and Bernie's Tavern has $25 domestic beer buckets. Plank Restobar's happy hour is Monday to Friday only, so it does not run on Sundays.

Is happy hour legal in Ontario?

Yes. The AGCO removed its ban on the terms "Happy Hour" and "Cheap Drinks" in 2019. Its guidelines still prohibit "2 for 1 drinks" and "every 3rd drink is $2" promotions, and require that drink prices and promotions be responsible in nature. Bars therefore discount by price or time.

Are Ancaster, Dundas and Stoney Creek part of Hamilton?

Yes. Ancaster, Dundas, Flamborough, Glanbrook and Stoney Creek merged with the old City of Hamilton on January 1, 2001. This guide includes Brewer's Blackbird and Brassie Pub in Ancaster, Barrel Heart in Dundas and The Innsville in Stoney Creek. Burlington is a separate city and is not included.
